Bilišće Beach and the sea
Bilišće Beach and the sea
Preko is the largest settlement and the location of the ferry port on Ugljan, on one of the islands of the Zadar archipelago. Just like any other place on Ugljan, Preko, too, is situated on the northern side of the island. With the growth of tourism the new houses of Preko and these of its neighboring Poljana and Kali got closer and closer - in our days the boundaries on the coastal strip are hard to find.

Almost anywhere along Preko's 3 km long coastal line one can enjoy the beach and swimming - the exceptions are the ferry port and the small boat harbor between Sveti Ante and Magazin. The coast in its full length is constructed to some degree. The most popular beach in Preko is Jaz. The coast of this shallow bay is sandy, the qualities of the beach here has been awarded with the blue flag. Bilišće Beach close to the ferry port, on its western side has small gravel, almost like sand. Other beaches in Preko (Brgačelj, Sveti Ante, Magazin) are mostly concrete covered, with short pebble or gravel sections to ease the entrance to the sea. A gentle challenge is to swim over to Galovac Island from Magazin Beach - or crawling along the wire connecting Ugljan with Galovac - and then enjoy the sun on Galovac.

There are no classic hotels in Preko, instead, pansions, villas and private apartments for rent is where vacation makers can find accommodation. Being an administrative centre, Preko is well equipped with various services. One can find bank, gas station, a supermarket and various others shops at the ferry port. Besides the center, groceries, restaurants and bars are scattered along the coast.

Details of the services available and other useful information are available on the inner pages of our site. You are kindly invited to look around on our pages!
